National Rural Creative Placemaking Summit

  • University of Iowa Iowa City, Iowa, 52242 (map)

The National Rural Creative Placemaking Summit seeks to enhance cross-sector collaboration, elevate intercultural perspectives within the field, and build policy presence for deeper consideration of rural creative placemaking. Together, we will consider the practice of rural creative placemaking – as a field, a strategy for economic development, and an opportunity to help sustain the culture and community of our rural places.

Outside In: Join Chris Lezama and Maria Sykes as they share their practice at Epicenter, a community resource center in Green River, Utah. They will explore their position as young outsiders working within the community they now call home. They'll share successes, failures, and lessons learned as well as how Epicenter combines economic development, the arts, and affordable housing in unique ways to serve a rural, desert community.
